Best Management Practices (BMPs)Current TRPA regulations require all homeowners in the Tahoe Basin to retrofit and maintain their properties with Best Management Practices, or BMPs. The deadline to install BMPs in Tahoma is October 15, 2006. To schedule your BMP property evaluation, please call: If you missed the annual General Meeting in August, then you missed our speaker, Eben Swain, from the Tahoe Resouce Conservation District, which is helping property owners with the BMP process. He assured us that the TRPA wants compliance much more than fines, and if you are taking steps towards completing your BMPs, it would be at least several years before TRPA starts assessing any penalties. For example, the area, which includes Meek's Bay, with the first BMP deadline was required to comply by October 2000. They have not been assessed any penalties yet.
